The Book Cubby is an interactive exhibition of Books written and/or illustrated by children. Stocked with books created by children and communities within Australia and around the world, the Book Cubby travels throughout metro and regional WA.
The Book Cubby is often accompanied by Books-To-Go. Using one piece of paper and a few simple folds you can create an 8 page book without having to stick or staple. Every child can be an author and can write and illustrate their own story. The books are published on the spot using a colour photocopier and the author gets to keep the original book.
Books-To-Go with the Book Cubby is part of the Better Beginnings Creating Books in Communities program. Children and families are encouraged to engage with books and stories by creating their own. Better Beginnings has been working with communities and children to capture their stories about their homes, families, pets and communities.
Children are encouraged to place a copy of their published book in the Book Cubby for other children and families to read.
