Better Beginnings provides every Western Australian preschool child with a free Preschool Book Box, designed to support families in sharing the joy of reading together.
What’s inside the Preschool Book Box?
Each box includes:
- Three beautiful children’s books:
- A Sausage Went to a Walk written by Ellisha Majid and illustrated by Peter Kendall
- Crane Guy written by Sally Sutton and illustrated by Sarah Wilkins
- Lion is That You? written and illustrated by Moira Court
- Helpful information for parents and caregivers with ideas for reading, talking, singing, drawing and playing with your child at home
How do I get my book box?
Preschool Book Boxes are distributed through Western Australian public libraries.
Public libraries will be working with organisations in their community to determine the best distribution method for the Preschool Book Box. We encourage you to reach out to your local library to find out where you will receive yours. You can find your nearest library using the Find a Library.
What does the public library offer families?
Your local library is a great place for families, offering:
- Free membership and access to books, magazines, DVDs, online resources and activities
- Family programs such as Rhyme Time and Story Time
- School holiday activities for children
