FAQs

The aim of the Better Beginnings Indigenous Program is to provide culturally relevant early literacy resources to Indigenous families, build the literacy confidence of Indigenous families and children, and promote the key early literacy messages to Read, Talk, Sing, Write and Play with your child every day.

Little Fulla Yarns Reading Pack

In November 2021, Better Beginnings launched the Little Fulla Yarns reading pack to support Aboriginal families living in remote communities to Read, Yarn, Sing, Draw and Play every day with their bub. This program is currently being rolled out as a pilot to remote communities across the Kimberley region.

Programs

The Better Beginnings Indigenous Program aims to support Aboriginal families across Western Australia to engage in early literacy practices at home with their child.

We encourage families to Read, Yarn, Sing, Draw and Play with their child every day through sharing books and activities that share the stories, values and languages of our diverse Indigenous communities. These early literacy practices will help little ones grow into stronger, more resilient learners by the time they go to school.
